Amazing experience!! Haley at front desk and Robert in maintenance made sure that after Resort Management Group completely dropped the ball on a family of 13 people who flew in from California and Washington DC late in afternoon/evening found us units that would would work for us last minute. Went above and beyond normal customer service to make sure we had place to sleep that night and rest of weekend. Clean, amazing customer service. This will be our go to place for ski season.
It appears that thoughts of grandiosity were the driving force in the planning process for the entire complex, convenience for the visitor seem to be incidental judging by the location of the closest parking. You have to walk quite a bit and it also involves stairs.
We went during Thanksgiving week. Lifts were limited. Not too much variety of slopes. We paid $80 per day and used 2 -3 lifts. I liked the remote bathrooms. They have over 40 lifts. I would recommend going during the week when most lifts are open.
Winter Park is a great Ski Area less than an hour from Denver. This is the kind of Mountain you can take beginners or the Seasoned Black Diamond skier to! It is an all around great mountain with everything you will need within minutes of the Resort! I am heading back in 2018.
To me it is highly overpriced. How can you charge $90 for one day, with the cheapest option - the half day ticket - being only a few bucks cheaper, if only 30% of the lifts and runs are open? And those are not challenging. At all.
I have been skiing for decades and out of the the places I have been and skied this is by far my favorite. They have a great ski school with a beginning area that has a roller that you stand on to get to the top. They have plenty of lifts and terrain for all levels of skiing. Plenty of area to cover for all skill levels. The reason I rate it so high are the bumps at Maryjane. There are no places here that have this level of challenging bumps. If you want tough numbs this is the only place to go. Driving over the pass is worth it to get to the best bumps in the county!
